The quickest way to ruin an expensive knife

I would only recommend this sharpener for cheap knives that just need a quick sharpening without worrying about scratches on the sides of the blade and small nicks along and above the blade to have to do. blade edges. I have used this to sharpen my expensive Shun Damascus chef's knife and not only does it scratch/graze the sides of my blade which have a sort of mirror finish, it also leaves little chips on the blade regardless of my technique! Additionally (and you can see other reviewers saying the same thing) your knife's blade cuts through the bottom plastic of the guides you thread the blade through. This problem will eventually cause the blade height to change, which the sharpener will scrape off your knife over time, lowering the bottom of the rail where your knife cut through (common usage). Again, I can't stress how bad this is for knives that you not only want to keep in good (looking) condition, but also want to prevent the blades from micro-chipping (because they're bound to chipping). Of course we are there for cheap knives. For everything else I would recommend taking the time to shop and learn how to sharpen your expensive blades with whetstones. It has many videos on YouTube.
