They really can be washed. It seems to rub off easily from hard surfaces. However, when you open the pack you will see that someone has scribbled the colors on the top and bottom of the pack. Also broken. It doesn't happen magically through rough handling. The colored pencil paper runs over it and when you take it out of the packaging, the paper is already pushed onto the colored pencils. If you've ever purchased authentic Crayola pencils, you know they're always in great condition straight out of the box. The papers are well secured and there are little or no markings in the box. The other box was exactly the same as this one. I ordered 2 packs. They appear to be fake crayons placed in crayon-printed paper in a repurposed pencil box. However, the crayons are well colored and easy to erase. Are they worth the price they sell on Amazon? It depends on you. In case you haven't noticed, there are several Amazon retailers you can buy from (mine was sold: Happy Forever :-)). Maybe someone else has legal pencils, but from my observation it's pirated. Useful, yes, but pirated.
