My old bluetooth stereo base with radio (Zenith on the left) required a bluetooth adapter that could be powered from a wall socket via a 5v transformer and would not automatically turn off when the paired device goes out of range like most battery powered adapters. It's hard to find something that meets all requirements. I first found it on Parts Plus, but for 1.5 times the price it was poorly made, had terrible Bluetooth range and only had a 5V micro jack connector, no micro USB connector. I needed a replacement. I finally found this little board at Revain and it got a solid 5 stars, especially for the price. My first observation was that this little board seems really well made for the price. Also behind the name is a company with a legal website, unlike many Chinese electronic components these days. It's powered by a standard micro-USB connector, so all you need is any Android cable and a USB outlet. Check this box. After connecting and testing, I was pleasantly surprised at the ease of Bluetooth pairing. I have confirmed that it stays enabled. Check this box. While my paired smartphone was playing music via Bluetooth, I went to another room and the connection didn't drop! 5 times more than my previous board. Gorse estimates 30-45 feet. With no walls or excessive interference, I'd say that number is right. Check this box. After my device went out of range and then came back, pairing resumed. Check this box. I looked at other features - what is a TF card? This is the old name for micro SD. Cool idea, but wouldn't it require some kind of MP3 compatible circuitry to play MP3 files/songs? It does! I loaded a 32GB micro card with a bunch of MP3 music, put the card in the slot and it recognized it immediately, went into "TF card" mode and started playing the first song play. I tried the equalizer button and indeed it changes the sound to equalizer presets like POP, DANCE, BASS, JAZZ. Is it important. So it is not only a bluetooth adapter but also a media player. The bonus cell is highlighted. The small buttons are neat but not very useful when this device has to be hidden in a closet like in my case. It would be great if Drok could make a nice little case for this board with holes for connectors, a card slot and handy attractive buttons. This allows the user to easily migrate from Bluetooth to SD card/carrier. If they made one, I would definitely buy it. A NOTICE. For my first test, I recorded the songs directly onto my SD card. The songs seem to play in the order they are on the card. I don't see a shuffle function, but then again, this isn't advertised primarily as an MP3 player. I'm planning to put different genres in different folders to see if it can identify folders and somehow suggest folder or playlist options. I doubt it will work, but there's no harm in trying!
