The people who complained about this thing in the reviews obviously never worked with a wrench! Actually it's amazing. I installed it on my NavePoint Server Rack where my monitoring server resides. I'm very happy with the stability of the mount, but my solid all-metal mounting point makes for an extremely tight fit. If you have a plastic, glass, or thin wood table, you might want to consider other alternatives than the clamp mount, but think Remember that this mount also has a bracket if you'd rather drill some holes or screw it into existing holes. Basically, if your desk is solid, you can mount this thing pretty securely, but it just depends on how tight you screw the hardware on. The less stable the table or attachment point, and the weaker your hand with the wrench, the worse things get. You really have to tighten the nuts and bolts, but when you do - damn it's solid! The laptop handle is a little wobbly as you may need to tilt it slightly depending on the angle of the two arm segments and the angle of rotation. Laptop pad itself, but it can be endlessly reconfigured so there's always a suitable spot. I have a Thinkpad T60 tied to a laptop platform. If your laptop is the right size, there should be plenty of holes to zip it up. It also fits large laptops! The "wings" on either side of the laptop stand should be pointing down, not up! Putting the wings up doesn't allow you to accommodate a wider laptop, not to mention the screw heads aren't flush. But the wings are aligned across the width of the laptop, but unfortunately out of the way of the retractable folding arm, meaning you may have to tilt the laptop platform to one side or the other to move it as desired. So I hold the nut tight on the vertical tilt axis, but loose enough to re-level the laptop platform if needed. The only raised lip at the top of the laptop platform is at the very front. Your laptop can hang over all other three edges. How you mount an oversized laptop is up to you, but I imagine it would require some creative configuration of some heavy-duty cable ties. Don't skimp on the straps! I'm afraid the crappy zip ties I got here in a big package are too flimsy to support my damn kitty who jumps on the thinkpad all the time, but they've held up so far and the mount did the job! I can just fold the laptop vertically and then slide it against the wall along with the monitor so they don't get in the way. Better and cheaper than the competition. Legal product. Kitten and conscientious owner allowed!
