Good idea but important details are missing

Pros: Easy to put on and take off; They go very well with different boots; Good grip on snow; Good grip on ice. Weaknesses: The straps easily come loose on packed or caked snow; The included orange plastic clips to prevent the straps from prematurely loosening break easily and sometimes just come loose; Obtaining replacement orange plastic clips is proving to be a challenge. The lower fastener for length adjustment does not hold securely even with high torque. I've used mine for maybe 8-10 hikes, from flat, icy conditions to steep, snowy slopes. They did well on ice and in soft snow. With rusty or windy snow, the straps would loosen, sometimes even with orange clips. Ratchet mounts are just poorly designed. I have other outdoor boots with similar ratchet closures that never open. If you only use them occasionally on soft snow, you'll probably be happy. If you use them regularly in harsh conditions, you'll end up looking for a replacement after you get tired of struggling with their shortcomings.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Out of fashion
