I just can't believe this is happening and that whoever designed this didn't anticipate it. The surface is completely flat, so the mouse simply slides down and falls off the shelf. The tray does not even have to be tilted completely. Yes, you can stick the pencil horizontally with tape or something else to use as a barrier, but that's a bad solution because every time you stop grabbing the mouse because you're using both hands to type on the laptop need, the mouse slides all the way down and falls. I am very disappointed as this is intended for use with a laptop and mouse and is slanted rather than flat and can accommodate plates of food as shown in some photos. I'm wondering if those mouse pads on the right side of the other models are rubber and prevent the mouse from slipping? If it wasn't for that "little" detail, it would be a very nice piece, but it's almost useless because it doesn't hold a mouse. Also note the single stop bar, is it too narrow and on the right side, or is it for left-handers? Imagine you put a 15 inch laptop on the right. It leans to the left as the bar only stops the laptop in the right corner. I have no idea who came up with this. They would solve this problem by incorporating a much wider bar and surface to prevent the mouse from slipping off.
