Laptops aren't the best of coolers with their pathetic little fan, and they can certainly generate a lot of heat when running heavy processes (like gaming), so you'll need to think about additional cooling. There are two types - passive and active. Passive stands are typically lightweight aluminum stands that offer increased airflow and some heat dissipation from the aluminum. The active ones are driven by a fan and constantly supply the laptop with cool air. This cooling pad is active type. It has 6 fans and offers 6 speeds (the noise increases with each level, as expected, but none of them are loud enough to be annoying). The pad is powered via a USB-A cable (so you may need a USB-C converter depending on the ports your laptop offers). Additionally, there's an array of LED lights to brighten up your session with multiple lighting modes (it's a bit of a distraction for me, but to each their own). The pad is mostly plastic but should hold up well if you take care of it. I generally prefer active fan cooling for my expensive laptops and it is good value for money. P-)
