Steel file replaces 15-20 year old Revlon file. While my Revlon looks like 60 GT paper, this new one is more like 120 and 200. The rough side still handles burrs and rough bits quickly, it doesn't grind down as many nails. The thinner side isn't exactly what my wife files, but it's good enough that I don't feel the rough edges, which makes me bite my nails. The leather case is really good. Holds the file without slipping; and it's not a chore to install or remove them. I received a glass file to test. It does the job, no real complaints or compliments; I just don't need it. I will use for travel. It takes up almost no room in my bathroom bag and it shouldn't be a problem with TSA. I don't know enough about how glass files are made, but I have my doubts that it's chemical etching as the grit formation is perfectly uniform. I assume it can be mechanically sharpened. I would recommend just getting a metal file.
