Review on ๐Ÿšด Jagwire - Universal Sport DIY Bike Cable Kit for Road and MTN Brakes, Compatible with SRAM and Shimano, Double Ended Brake Cables (Road & Mountain), Includes Stainless Steel Cable & Housing by Justin Dorsett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Installed on a classic Trek multi-track bike

My application is a 1990 Trek 720 multi-track (with original brake and saddle cables). The Jagwire is noticeably thinner than the (29 year old) galvanized cables I've replaced (reason enough to replace the jacket as well). Jagwire cables appear to be made of ferritic stainless steel (which has a higher iron content - like grill tools and outdoor grills) so they are magnetic and will eventually discolor/rust, but not as quickly or as badly as galvanized carbon steel cables. The cables are double-sided, so they definitely need to be cut. NOTE: The pliers or cold chisel you may have successfully used on galvanized wire will not work in this case! Make sure you have a pair of sharp wire pliers that can cut stainless steel wire and you shouldn't have any problems. Also, don't forget to round off the end of the sheath you're cutting so the cable doesn't rub inside. I can't see any influence from the outer jacket design as most of the two cable routes are outdoors (my front cable actually falls through the cable). Steering wheel). I only have a few inches of steering wheel cover. I found the product to be exactly as advertised and just a test ride showed that it improved my perception of reliable braking.
