I used the size chart and from the measurements I determined that my 7 year old should be a size M. You can't order S/M/L although it says so in the size chart. So I ordered "size 5-7" because it is thin. The item I received is size M. Well the crotch is 4 inches lower but the belt goes way above her waist. As for the length, I decided to order the next size up, which is listed as "size 7-9" in the order. I expect the package to say L.
