I've been using bread makers since the first DAK "R2D2" models and bake a few loaves of bread a week. So here are some pros, cons, and thoughts: PROS: double spatula, bakes large (2-3 pounds) loaves of "traditional" size and shape, easy to use, has many options and features (probably I never use yogurt cycles or jelly (but I love that it has a bake cycle) costs half the price of the budget Zojirushi (but has many of the same features) and it's attractive on the countertop. : The outside of the machine is lined with sheet metal, which gets very hot, meaning you'll need oven gloves for both hands just to remove the bread; putting the pan in and out is difficult, and the ends of the wire handle scratch the inside (see second picture); a very thin manual (if you are inexperienced, there are many cookbooks on the bread machine); there is no volume control for a very loud keypress signal. REASON: Unlike other machines I've had, you knead cycles for most of the first hour or so (most machines I've had - probably based on older, limited numbers of logic boards - continuous kneading for 20 minutes, then beating and shaping), but the resulting bread seems to have good gluten development, so it's not bad, it's just not what I'm used to; The pure icon touchscreen interface takes some getting used to. TIP: It takes 3 seconds to pause or stop the program button THEN press the pause/stop button for 3 seconds (pause) and longer (to stop) - I found this on their website somewhere but not the Operation manual. FUTURE MODEL REQUEST: Please make a functional watch on the front.
