The concept of this tree bookshelf is a really cool idea. We bought the larger of the two being sold for my son's dorm. Large for the floor and smaller for the table. I think a desktop would be a much better choice when it comes to physics. (The bigger or bigger something is, the less durable it becomes unless adjustments are made.) My 18 year old son decided to keep it and we bought him another small bookcase to hold his heavier books. This particular tree bookshelf is a great decoration for light books that are not used often. I think if I had to go back in time I would buy the smaller version instead. **I would like to emphasize that he didn't just choose this bookcase for aesthetic reasons, but because he bought a stand specifically for his vinyl that was similar and I think from the same company. And it's amazing. **I stand by my previous review that instructions and assembly are lacking to say the least. I was told the manufacturer would be contacted for instructions, assembly and strength of the shelf and changes would be made (I really hope that's true). A company representative contacted me about the changes. I can't in my right mind give this product a higher star rating, although a company representative who cares and is confident the product will get better gives me hope. I encourage anyone considering purchasing this particular shelf for its price to look at the assembly requirements to see if any changes have been made. I also strongly recommend not incorporating a child's room unless it is heavily attached to the wall. ****Again, for safety reasons, I do not recommend setting up a space that children will want to take books out of unless it is securely attached to the wall and verified that reinforcement is needed to secure it in place keep.
