Out of the box the keyboard works like the main left keys on a regular keyboard. The Synapse 2 software requires you to create an account and grant various seemingly random system-wide permissions so you can customize the keys as you see fit. Figuring out what permissions and how to grant them is the tricky part. It's been over an hour since I've plugged this thing in - right now I'm rebooting the system multiple times, everything is up to date, and the software is still refusing me permission to program the device. The Logitech G13 keyboard didn't need all that crap - too bad it's been discontinued. I think it is highly questionable that it requires so much access to the system to perform a simple keyboard macro programming function. I'll be sending this junk back soon.
