Didn't work with USB

I liked the fan itself because it's a good size and very light, but it didn't work on any of the USB ports I plugged it into; Netbook, laptop and I've even tried my Xbox. The only way to get it working is to plug it into an adapter, which is inconvenient as I need it for my desktop :(
