Review on Sony SLV-N900 Hi-Fi VCR, 4-Head - Black Edition by Joe Glass

I needed a new VCR as my old SONY SLV-585HF was outdated. Very few high-quality VCRs are sold in the digital age. This is one of them. I bought it in April 2006 and so far everything has been great. The SP's picture quality is GOLD - if you rip a DVD on it (using one of those DVD ripping devices) it will burn beautifully and the EP quality will be reasonable. The SLV-N900 records almost as well in SP as it does on DVD and as well as store-bought VHS tapes (using Sony tapes). It's almost immaculate. It has a very simple menu and a clear, easy-to-read display. he is small about half as long as the old 585HF, but that doesn't really matter; Put it on top of the stack or put about 10 CDs behind it. I was wary of what some people said about reliability but it was ok. Insert the bands carefully and don't press too many buttons at once and you'll be fine (it seems a bit delicate so I don't recommend giving it to young children). The remote control works well and the cable pickup is very easy. I can copy old 585HF cassettes very easily and the inputs are simple (if you press Channel Down after Channel 2 it goes to L2 and L1). It has a nice style and goes perfectly with my other black components. The instructions are a little short, but still informative. The only thing missing is an ATSC digital tuner (as far as I know none of the VCRs have it). If you're looking for a quality VCR and are willing to spend some money, buy the SLV-N900.
