I have several Sonicare toothbrushes in my house and every family member uses them. I have a much more expensive Philips Sonicare Diamond Clean toothbrush and a couple of inexpensive Sonicare Series 2 toothbrushes. This is a mid-range Sonicare toothbrush with Sensitive and Clean+White settings and the default setting is Clean. Sonicare toothbrushes use ultrasonic waves in addition to brushing to break down and remove plaque more effectively, and it really works. We have been using ultrasonic toothbrushes for several years and we have healthy mouths to prove it. And because there's a direct link between gum disease and heart disease, healthy teeth and gums make for more than just a pretty smile. One of my children and I have heart valve disease and I have been cautioned to practice good oral hygiene to avoid gum disease which can lead to heart valve infection. Our cardiologist recommends ultrasonic cleaning along with regular dental check-ups, so I feel more confident having my whole family using Sonicare as a regular toothbrush. If you've never used a Sonicare toothbrush before, you'll immediately realize that this is a very vigorous brushing session. It can even be uncomfortable at first. This Sonicare has an Easy Start mode that gradually increases cleaning power over two weeks to give you time to get used to it. Easy Start activates when you first use your toothbrush, unless you use the Clean+White mode, which is the most active. In addition, this model has a sensitive setting for people with sensitive teeth. There's an automatic 2-minute timer to ensure you're brushing your teeth for the full recommended time, which is especially beneficial for children. It also alerts you every 30 seconds to move to a different quadrant of your mouth so you brush each area thoroughly. The Clean+White setting includes the usual 2 minutes of Clean Mode, followed by an additional 30 seconds of White Mode, which prompts you to brush your upper front teeth for 15 seconds and then your lower front teeth for 15 seconds. with a plaque control nozzle. The brush heads should be replaced every 3 months like a regular toothbrush and have colored bristles that fade to remind you it's time to replace your brush head. Philips offers different types of brush heads that fit this toothbrush: Plaque Control, Gum Health, InterCare and Diamond Clean. Philips tips are excellent but expensive. I'm buying these for my extended family, they fit perfectly and I think they work just as well. Standard replacement tips for Philips Sonicare HX6014/13 ProResults (pack of 4, 8, 12 or 20)
