It's plastic so won't hit it too hard but I bought this for my 22 month old grandson as he was obsessed with the ceramic pencil shaped measuring cup set that fit into each other. The perfect alternative and he learns to put them all together. Great for hand-eye coordination. You have to be careful when using them, but that's not a problem.
