Extremely difficult to open. An adult broke a whale's fin before finding instructions on how to open it without breaking it. Waxing of the joints of both halves of each nesting animal is required for them to close and reopen. I guess it ended up in the trash. At that price, I probably shouldn't have gotten my hopes up.

When I first opened the package I was confused because I didn't think they all looked so strange online. Walrus. Does he only have a giant triangle for a mouth? Otters have small eyes. Switched off. And penguins just don't look like penguins. You are ok I think. But I definitely wouldn't have bought them if I knew they would look like this.

Bought for my nephew. He likes it very much. The first one I ordered arrived damaged but I think it was the fault of the post office (even the box was damaged). Got a new one right away. The only thing that worries me is that opening the dolls for the first few times can be very difficult. The instructions suggest waxing the rims, but I had no intention of messing with it. It will get easier over time.

Very cute, flashy and attractive. It's just that when trying to take a set apart, we feel like it can't take much handling without loss. We have concerns that they appear more fragile than most of our collection. I will update over time but let me stress that the craftsmanship of the final look is very sharp.

I wanted to give these dolls to my son for his birthday. I was so happy when they arrived because they are super cute! They don't come apart as easily as they should, so I'll just rub the rims with sandpaper a bit to see if that helps. I struggled to open the dolls so most likely my 6 year old won't be able to do it. Otherwise it is a lovely long lasting gift and was dispatched and delivered quickly.

Fins are very easy to remove. I bought these for my nieces (2 and 4) and within a day one of the fins broke. Fast forward a week and there's no other fin either. Thankfully the kids didn't put the pieces in their mouths (and there was a glue stain on the doll - the nails wouldn't hurt), but it's not ideal. Also, it's a bit difficult to separate some of the dolls. It's sad because I love the idea and the look of these dolls. Or is it better for adults only?

I bought this as a gift for my young niece and opened it up to put a small item in the smallest animal as a bonus gift. When I opened it, the whale's fin broke off immediately. Also, some of the foam stuck to the whale's body. I've also tried opening the next animal, a walrus, and I can't open it. How is it supposed to be for kids when it's done so cheaply?! Don't buy this. That's a waste of money. I'm glad I accidentally opened it before giving it to her. She would be so disappointed.

This is a really cool doll set. However, the annoying problem was that I couldn't open it after the first level. He got to the 2nd level with just one scratch. Following the opening instructions, my husband worked on it for about 15 minutes, trying to open each layer for fear of damaging it or scratching the paint on it.
