Review on ๐Ÿงณ Sulky 12x12 Iron-On Tear-Away Stabilizer Roll: Perfectly Stable Crafting Companion! by Lori Aguirre

Good for some things, not so good for others.

I'm not quite sure what I think of this stabilizer. I have used it for both hand and machine embroidery on 100% cotton, polycotton blends and polyester felt fabrics. It's a good stabilizer, but you need something on top of the hot melt to hold it in place. I've found this to be especially true with hand embroidery. HAND EMBROIDERY: From time to time, flatten the stabilizer back onto the fabric or your fabric will come off the stabilizer completely and ruin the pattern you traced and pretty much ruin your entire pattern. Project. This applies to the cotton, Polycotton and polyester felt fabrics I've tried this on. However, this is the only batting I have found that is perfect for hand embroidery as it is not too thick for a needle. MACHINE EMBROIDERY: If you're making a one-off design on a garment or bag, this will likely work, especially if the finished embroidery design doesn't need to be rigid. I make patches on a long piece of fabric and re-stretch when I need more space. I have to iron this stabilizer back onto the fabric before re-mounting - I've found my favorite fabric for patches, polyester felt, performs worst when ironed again. This also results in a very thin patch as the stabilizer is so thin. Conclusion: It is suitable for small hand embroidery patterns, if you feel you need a fleece. good for tracing and good for a disposable machine. Embroidery patterns on clothing or ready-made "
