Review on Vantec NexStar Drive Enclosure NST 328S3 BK by Andy Baker

Great external enclosure for SSD or HDD!

A few years ago I bought a Seagate 2TB external hard drive and the store I bought it from had it for a VERY cheap price. There was no doubt I had to have it, while you will never have enough hard drive space for all your files, folders, music, pictures, etc. I'm a big fan of Seagate products, although generally they are good quality and last well. EXCEPT for this external hard drive. The power connector was of poor build quality and I had to wiggle and twist the power cord to finally make a good connection to the hard drive. Sometimes I let it turn on and off without warning, sometimes in the middle of saving a file or trying to load a file or working project. To be honest, that was a big annoyance for me. I was confident that when I put the drive in my computer case or a new external case, the hard drive in this external drive was in good condition and would work. I chose the external case route so I can take the hard drive to my friend's house if I decide to do some sort of file sharing for it. Here is an overview. I have used NexStar cases in the past with 2.5" hard drives that I salvaged from dead laptops I owned and have been very happy with the quality of these cases. This case maintains the overall build quality. But a very small capacity is missing. let me explain. The main body structure is aluminum, which offers good build quality, but the end caps are plastic. On my older models, the end caps were also aluminum, which made them strong. You must be careful and remember when closing this case not to overtighten the screws included in the kit as this may damage the screw fixings or possibly break the end caps. This enclosure includes everything you need to install a SATA hard drive or solid state drive and a power cord to power the enclosure. It also comes with a USB cable that supports USB 3.0 for fast data transfer. After all, it's one of those which are plug and play, so your Windows or Mac computer will recognize it quickly. No special drivers need to be installed to use this case. If I can find any downsides in this case, it's the end caps, which are made of a plastic composite. Final Thoughts: This is a really great case to put in an HDD or SSD to give you an external drive. I would recommend this to anyone who needs to reuse or simply install a new drive on their computer. made of a plastic composite.
