Blocks/hangs when copying files via USB 3.0

I am returning this device (model TX 3.5" USB 3.0). If I'm connected to a USB 3.0 port and copying files, at some point during the copying process (usually within the first 10 seconds) my copy will "hang" or freeze completely. The only way I can get my system to do the Canceling the copy process is by unplugging the usb. This is very annoying. I've tried different 3.0 ports and different computers and drives just to make sure it's not something on my end, but I got the same results. I still have

Nice case but the drive mount is now plastic

I've been using these Vantec SATA to USB cases for years, back then as IDE to USB :) I used the screws that came with it to attach the internal hard drive to the Bracket for the drive, insert the bracket into the case, secure with screws and it works right out of the box. The drive was immediately recognized by the PC and worked fine. Pros: * Includes screws, both metal (for mounting bracket to drive) and black screws (for attaching case to bracket). Thank you, one spare screw per color is…

Pros
  • Possibility to mount your own hard drive. (Hard drive not included)
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Not bad but small changes could improve it.

I've only been using it for a day so can't comment on durability yet but it was easy to put together and the speed is very reasonable. It comes with USB3 and eSATA cables and a power adapter. I'm seeing faster serial read/writes over USB3 than eSATA, but small queued I/Os are faster over eSATA due to how USB works. In general, the speed is as expected. There are no complaints. I was disappointed to see that the inner tray that holds the drive is plastic. Not only can this lead to breakage…

Great external enclosure for SSD or HDD!

A few years ago I bought a Seagate 2TB external hard drive and the store I bought it from had it for a VERY cheap price. There was no doubt I had to have it, while you will never have enough hard drive space for all your files, folders, music, pictures, etc. I'm a big fan of Seagate products, although generally they are good quality and last well. EXCEPT for this external hard drive. The power connector was of poor build quality and I had to wiggle and twist the power cord to finally make a…
