This is a great product as it is. To be clear, this only allows for linear recording and does not include the built-in tuner. If this is what you need, you should be prepared to spend a lot more for another solution. I have a small problem which is not related to this model but is generally due to the fact that my surround sound system is also Philips. . When I use the remote to eject a cassette, my sound system interprets it as turning it on and opening the DVD tray. It's just a crosstalk in the infrared mapping that Philips uses, but unfortunately there's one more thing. There is no display on the front apart from the indicator lights. No time of day, no tape counter. You can have this information pop up on the screen, which I don't particularly care about, but there's a 'display' button on the remote that toggles it on and off quickly, so that's a minor thing too. In general this is a very good unit. It has a clean build quality which makes me suspect it will likely last a bit longer than similar competing products.
