Restricted Functions in DVD Players

If you are watching TV from a source that runs through this box, it must be turned on in order to watch TV. Not a previous VCR/DVD I needed to watch TV. To record at the scheduled time, you need to press the "Set Timer" button. This button then prevents watching the TV while it is on. Again, no previous VCR/DVD has worked this way. It plays DVDs and VHS very well!

Useless! Best in TV and Video

Bought this new one straight out of the box from Revain in March 2016. Checked the VCR maybe 5 or 6 times. I noticed that it was light and thin, but wasn't happy with that figure. I tried turning it on four months ago and it wouldn't turn on. The power button is completely useless. Took it to a repair shop - parts out of stock, stuck with $150 lemon. And it's too bulky for a doorstop. I cut my losses by getting it repaired and buying a used Toshiba VCR off Ebay for $30 plus shipping. Please…

no fun half, the cost of the block is spent.

OK but the product I received did not fully work. It took me time which was painful, I wanted the device way earlier. It also cost me to return the device instead of half the fun, the cost of the device was spent on returning it again. I bought it because I thought it would work, but it doesn't. The VHS department played the tapes but not the program. DVD worked. This is the second unit I bought that did the same thing, the "DVD/VHS" indicator showed tapes being used but not like that, the…

Difficult to set up

I took the cables from an old broken Zenith unit and put them in the same places on this new Phillips, plugged in the coax and voila, sound but no picture, plus the The setup Menu was not displayed. So I called RCN and had to get them to come because they don't like the possible responsibility of setting up the machine if something goes wrong. It took the RCN installer half an hour to figure out how to do it, so I didn't feel bad that I didn't get it right. First he said the device was not…

At the beginning of March 2015 I received from .

In early March 2015 I received a DVD/VCR combo player from a third party (tigerdirect.com) through their website in a satisfactory standard condition. After using the machine for a short time (around April 5th) I started to hear a rotation error in the machine's VHS tray, and after the cassette was fully rotated and about halfway through playing, the combo machine itself started to sound. broken rotation noise. Personally I think I shouldn't be hearing this noise from the device anymore…

Well Done - DVD Player

This is a great product as it is. To be clear, this only allows for linear recording and does not include the built-in tuner. If this is what you need, you should be prepared to spend a lot more for another solution. I have a small problem which is not related to this model but is generally due to the fact that my surround sound system is also Philips. . When I use the remote to eject a cassette, my sound system interprets it as turning it on and opening the DVD tray. It's just a crosstalk in…

4 head VCR and decent DVD player without coaxial input/output

WARNING: This VCR/DVD player does not have coaxial input and output cables. If you want to connect a standard black coaxial cable from a cable or satellite box to this VCR and then run another cable to your TV, this is not possible. Red, white, and yellow composite RCA cables are the only way to connect the audio and video to this capture device, and the only way to send the output of a VHS tape to a TV. With DVD playback, there are several ways to send the signal to the TV; but with VHS…
