My son had dyspraxia. This means that he has problems with coordination. He doesn't like wearing shoes with laces because he finds it difficult to tie them. This allows him to sync his laces and know they stay taut even if his loop doesn't tighten. This allows him to focus only on tying the buttonhole, knowing his laces are still secure.
