This tuner has some additional functions besides the usual functions. It has HDMI and RCA composite output options. Surprisingly, since I ran out of HDMI inputs on my TV, I used the composite input and the picture still looks pretty good (still way better than the old analog). The reason for the 4-star installation rating is that it takes a few good tries to actually figure out the DVR's recording function with a USB flash drive. It's fiddly to set up the timer recording, but other than that it's a pretty good little tuner. Great for new Smart TVs without a tuner and for those occasions where if the "cable or satellite cable cut" option is used. I actually bought the 2nd device for another TV. I couldn't be happier!
