For reference I have a set of AKG K240 studio headphones that I use in my home studio so I've heard some decent headphones. These Sony headphones aren't of this caliber, but they're also slightly cheaper. These headphones sound pretty good. I don't listen to much hip hop, techno or pop music. Mostly hard rock and metal, some classic rock, some industrial and so on. But I like good bass. These are full. In fact, I run 60Hz on the EQ at almost 0 boost where other headphones usually go pretty high. I was a little worried about this as some other reviewers have mentioned that they think it's too much bass. They *might* definitely have too much bass if you crank the bass up. But in "flat" settings I find them almost perfect. They are quite comfortable, but the plastic headband gets annoying over time. I wear them for a few hours at a time and then I'm ready for a break.
