I really liked this unit and I tested it first to make sure it worked and it works, but i finally used it today to smoke meat the thing was useless if i went more than ten feet it lost the signal so it just turned off. I had three meats and was trying to track them all when this unit just cut itself out, even when I found somewhere it was picking up a signal it lost it after a minute. And yes, I used new batteries. So after only one use it comes back very disappointed, what a pity. Maybe I'm broken, I don't know, although I've since read reviews with similar issues, so I'll keep looking for something better.
