I recently bought this sharpener. This is in addition to the countless other sharpeners I have purchased over the past forty years. The difference is that this one actually sharpens any of your knives. I have sharpened all of our kitchen knives, sport knives, a very small pocket knife and utility knives. It has worked for every one of them. The instructions are simple and clear. The only thing I would like to point out is that you place the knife sideways on the plastic rest and don't try to keep it straight. very helpful and it really works. Asian is better. Like me, you may have American knives where you would have a razor-sharp Asian blade. This sharpener really gives you that option. The quality of the blade and the ability to rebuild the blade make the price worth it. Although I've bought many sharpeners and tried to keep my knives sharp, I have to admit that I've never really succeeded. They were just good. Now I can say I can sharpen a knife to have a razor blade. No bragging, just a fact!
