Our cats are absolutely obsessed with this scratching post. It is covered with sisal and soft fabric. It looks really solid and well made. Mittens (pictured) like to climb on it like gargoyles. Our other cat spent over an hour trying to get the bell pom pom out of the ground last night. This is our most popular piece of cat furniture. In fact, I plan on ordering at least one more so they don't fight over it. The mittens weigh about 10 pounds and will bounce off the top without knocking them over. I would definitely recommend it for use on carpet simply because it tends to slip a bit on hardwood floors. This is more than I expected which was a very pleasant surprise. Our only cat is over 20 pounds and is very picky about cat furniture, but he hasn't knocked her over at all. I cannot recommend this scratching post enough. It's fantastic quality and made to last.
