Review on GeeBat 460Pcs Connector Housing Adapter by Josh Allred

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good kit, bad crimp quality

This kit is good for a short term project or just trying out JST XH series connectors but other than that you get what you pay for. The quality of the connectors on the board side is normal, I cannot complain about the processing of the pins; However, the crimp is horribly messy and caused high connection resistance in the project for several hours. I used a GeeBat kit to power the LED. The application current was at a maximum of 30 mA for 12 hours, after which it failed. I shook the connector back and forth a bit and got intermittent contact; slightly pushed and pulled the wire with the same result. Eventually I unplugged it completely, plugged it in and unplugged it several times and the problem went away. After that I took the setup under the microscope and found no defects in the crimp or wire, but I did notice a lot of dirt on the side contact of the board. The images are a little blurry, but I juxtaposed GeeBat and the official JST. to see what happened. The JST connectors are smooth and clean while the GeeBat is fine but the main point of contact is corroded. I pulled out all the unused female GeeBat sculpts that showed the same story. The only conclusion I can draw is that I received a bad batch or their tools and process management are terrible. I threw away any seemingly bad crimp connections but kept the PCB headers as these parts showed no signs of corrosion.
