It became more orange after washing. Right now it looks more like a pumpkin, which is perfect. Yes it's messy but most colors. The only thing that has happened to me, which hasn't happened with other brands, is that it also bleeds when drying. I expect this to happen when it's wet, but that rubs off sweatshirts etc. However, I am very thankful to have found another semi-permanent one. I look forward to trying out your teal and pink to see if it can replace my old n'Rage colors that have been discontinued.
