These mermaid style nail clippers work really well - they're not just for show. I was able to trim the edges of my nails with both large and small pliers. The edges match exactly so they work better than those sold at discounted prices in the store. Mermaid tails also help keep them in check. I thought they might get in the way but they actually help little hands. Iridescent metallic is only on the top of the metal, although it's on the front and back of this piece. The rest of the clipper is just silver. A small file folder is useless. The edge around it is so big that I couldn't get the edge under my fingernail. All is well. Anyway, I don't like metal nail files, so I'm not deducting a star for that. Overall, they're very cute and inexpensive (currently just over $4 a set).
