Dude, I feel like a big mannequin! Why have I disliked using Waste Maid's garbage shredder instead of the crap ISE makes for all these years? I installed this Waste Maid today and couldn't be happier. It's like going from a battered, rusty Cavalier to a brand new Cadillac. Thats much better! For the past 25 years or more, I have been deceived into thinking that I need ISE's garbage disposal. I think it's because they spend so much money on advertising and you can see that in the Laws window. This is the brand my parents used. However, in 25 years their quality seems to have only deteriorated and all I've done was replace them over and over again. As of this writing I have just replaced my latest ISE Badger 5 with this Waste Maid. It seems silly that I could be so excited to take out the trash, but listen. After 25 years of using ISE brand salvage every day, it really does feel like going from a rusty, battered Cavalier to a brand new Cadillac. It really is like that. It is difficult to explain how different these two models are. First of all you will be shocked by the size. My old ISE Badger 5 was big under the sink. It was wide, low and HEAVY. There was some metal in it now, but only where the heavy induction motor had been. The grinding chamber was made of plastic. This Waste Maid uses a polymer body throughout. And because it uses a permanent magnet motor, it's small and light. You might think it will be less powerful, but it's actually the other way around. The induction motor used by ISE is big, noisy and SLOW. The permanent magnet motor used is a state-of-the-art motor. It's small, light, quiet and FAST. So quiet, in fact, I had to look inside to see if it was working. And that for the basic chopper model without noise insulation. I can't believe how much quieter it is than my old ISE. If you think you want the old heavy induction motor that ISE uses, then don't. Permanent magnet motors are used in things like Tesla car motors and small powerful motors like the starter motor in your car. This motor also runs so fast (about twice as fast as the ISE) that food is shredded almost instantly. In the picture I posted a few things that I circled. On my former ISE Badger 5, the turntable was flat except for two impellers. So since it spun slower compared to this high-speed Waste Maid, you really had to rely on centrifugal force to push the food onto the grinding ring and impellers. If I add half a potato, half an orange or something like that, they mostly just go around in circles. I would have to turn it off and on again or add something else to make it work. Now if you look at what Waste Maid have done, they've added some "knives" to their turntable as well as some definite hits. . Today I tested a new model. I threw in half a potato and it immediately crumbled into dust. Again I had to test to make sure it worked and didn't get stuck because I couldn't hear it. The "knife" helps make rough cuts in the food you throw, and the bumps make the food on the turntable unstable, causing it to bounce around and slam against the impellers and cutter ring. The knife on the underside ensures that everything that can slip through, such as e.g. B. onion skins or other objects under the turntable, is cut and flushed down the drain. Waste Maid really thought of everything. The rubber splash guard on ISE grinders is firmly attached to the grinder. That means stuck food can become stinky and smelly and almost impossible to clean. If you accidentally cut or damage it with a knife, you're out of luck. Waste Maid, on the other hand, uses a DETACHABLE fender. When it gets dirty, it can be washed or thrown in the dishwasher. Such a small thing that makes a HUGE difference in quality of life and happiness. Why hasn't everyone thought about it? Due to its shape, the outlet is mostly covered, which makes the device even quieter and does not splash, as can be the case with the ISE with its wide opening. Waste Maid hadn't before. I had the ISE Badger 5. It used their 3 screw mounting system with a "twist to lock" feature that makes it easy to replace the ISE with more ISE blocks. However, this Waste Maid USES THE SAME ring and twist to lock. Also, the outlet tube is in the same position and distance as my Badger 5. What does that mean? That means I removed my old ISE Badger 5 and replaced it with the new Waste Maid UNDER THE SINK IN LESS THAN 10 MINUTES! Do not lie! Less than 10 minutes! Everything is perfectly matched. I literally screwed the clamp on this new one to my old ISE mount, connected the dishwasher hose, tightened the water fitting on the drain pipe, plugged in and done. The fact that Waste Maid has made it possible to swap out the ISE unit directly without having to fiddle with the sink flange, change plumbing, etc. is worth the money. I know this review was long but listen. I was so frustrated with the crap ISE is doing that I decided to take a chance and buy another brand. When I discovered the Waste Maid's features and found that it was a direct replacement for an ISE unit for less than half the cost, I was convinced. I am very happy that I made this choice. I can't believe how quick and fast it gets rid of food compared to my old ISE devices. I will never go back to them. From now on I am a customer at Waste Maid.
