HDMI splitter works great if you use it right. I need a splitter so Chromecast and Directv can play audio on a Samsung soundbar via an optional HDMI audio splitter. To further complicate the process, I also use Alexa to control my devices through the Harmony Hub. Basically I connected an HDMI splitter to process the input for Chromecast and Directv and then taught Harmony how to control the IR signals for the HDMI splitter. Everything went exactly as planned. There are no problems at all with the HDMI splitter. The only thing you need to keep in mind is that you need to turn on both devices (Chromecast and Directv in my case) so the HDMI splitter recognizes that both are connected and then allow the HDMI splitter to cast the inputs via Harmony/ to change Alexa .
