The DMC-TS2 is ready for whatever you throw at it, as are several other compact digital devices for less money. What it does best is stunning 14MP photos and crystal clear, smooth HD videos. Photos taken in the surprisingly intuitive Full Auto mode were perfect, with the exception of a few where a drop of water on the lens distorted the image slightly. They were comparable in quality to my D200, which is nice considering the TS2 can work anywhere. The video quality made me wish I had bought a FlipHD a few months ago. The TS2 is less jittery, more crisp and has just as good, if not better, sound quality than the Flip. It's replaced both our old compact digital and new flip and I'd say it's a great deal for the price. Kayak of our local class III per day with high flow. I attached a cheap camera bag to the deck of my kayak and tucked it there while I swam from place to place so it was always within reach. I also tried getting a Kodak Adventure mount as a POV camera for videos going through the rapids. It wasn't a problem in any situation, whether I was pitching upside down or wading in the middle of a wave, it was always on hand and very quick to turn on when I needed it quickly. As for impact resistance, I strapped it on to snap photos of the other members of the group traversing a particularly strong ridge when one person turned and needed help lifting all of their gear. I didn't have time to put the TS2 down so I started paddling with it on my wrist and it hit the deck and side of the boat hard, the camera never wobbled and made a very interesting motion sickness video. .I haven't tested the frost resistance of the TS2 yet, but I'll let you know as soon as it's not 100 degrees outside every day. use with it. While it should be compatible (according to Panasonic's website) it may not be compatible, so make sure you can either test it before you buy it or return it if it's not compatible. Unfortunately I didn't, and now my rarely used Flip has an amazing 32GB card, while Panasonic inherited their 8GB card. But with that in mind, an 8GB card lasted a full weekend with close to an hour of video and hundreds of photos, so a 32GB card might be overkill anyway. Basically, this is an amazing camera for the money, even if it costs a little more than the competition. High-quality and smooth videos make it your all-around camera, not just a "universal" camera.
