For private use, this Westek emergency light is as good as it gets. There are 3 different use cases for this: The 1st use case is a night light - when it is plugged into the mains and receiving power from the wall it charges the internal battery and acts as a night light. 2nd application - emergency light - with wall connection. , when the power goes out, the emergency lighting will turn on automatically. (The switch must be in the ready position) No more fumbling around looking for lamps with dead batteries. I hooked mine up in the basement next to the switchboard. 3. Use Case - Flashlight - You can also use this device as a flashlight. The emergency light battery lasted a good 6 hours after a recent power failure. I'm completely happy with this purchase so I ordered another set of 2 to connect them around the house. You will not be disappointed.
