Review on Logitech G430 7.1 Gaming Headset with Mic - Model 981-000536 by Juan Crane

Probably the worst headset I've ever had.

Let's start with that. I've only had one headset in my life, a Plantronics Gamecom 780, which recently broke. I wanted to replace it and find something new and found this headset. It arrived on time and looked beautiful, great shipping and all, but when it came time to use and wear the headset, the problems started. The headset felt flimsy when first worn, with the ear sockets twisting a little too much and allowing them to be bent and likely broken easily. When you wear it, the audio is muted and you can easily hear yourself and not hear the sounds of your headset. According to my friends, the microphone wasn't the best. Wearing the headset for me for over an hour also gave me a headache from the tight compression. The sound was just terrible. There is absolutely no bass in the headset. It offers you an audio mixer that you have to download to use from their website where you can try customizing the sound to suit your personal preferences, but that didn't work for me. Overall, the sound was too high in the treble and very absent in the bass. You have to turn the volume up high to hear background music in video games or Youtube videos. On the label, Revain asks you to print a prepayment, but I received a $7.55 restocking fee for returning an item I didn't want. isn't cool There are a few things I really like about this headset: the color, the length of the USB cable, and the built-in mic and volume controls. You can't beat this. The USB connection to my computer was long enough that I could lay with it and still look at my computer, and it was wrapped in fabric so it wasn't easy to bend. Overall positive: long USB connection distance, nice color, perfect condition, good built-in controls. Cons: tight head compression, horrible sound, ability to hear yourself, poor mic, poor workmanship.

Pros
  • Folding noise-cancelling boom mic: reduces background noise for clear voice pickup and pivots up and sideways
Cons
  • Hard to say
