We learned our lesson. You get what you pay for. After trying a pair of "cheap" glasses from Toys-R-Us that didn't fit at all, we researched and ended up buying the best toddler glasses for our three-year-old son. We are very happy with how well they work. They hold the water MUCH better than the cheap models and the dual strap adjustment keeps them in place much better. I'm not sure why they have to smell fruity, but whatever. The scent is not irritating or overpowering. UPDATE: Two years later he's still wearing them and they still work fantastic! The smell is long gone, but who cares? The function is what interests you. And it's amazing!
