Two weeks before my vacation I found a four week old kitten so I bought one to take with me. What a great idea. Let the kitten get used to being picked up before we leave. It became his "safe" place. My daughter strapped the backpack to her back and walked around with it to get used to the feel. On the trip, we stretched out the backpack to give the kitty more room, and she was able to come and go in the car during the 9-hour ride. Whenever we got out of the car, the kitten rode in a backpack and followed us. A few times my daughter went camping with this kitty on her back and the cat loved it! He could see everything around him, the ventilation was great and the kitten took part in all our activities. (Hey, people date dogs, why not cats?) The water bowl even helped with the kittens' adventures. Everyone we met also commented on how awesome this pack was! This kitten and my daughter were talked about everywhere! My daughter is planning to travel further with her kitten and backpack. He will become one of the most traveling kittens. I highly recommend this item.
