I agree with other reviewers on how hard this mat is to lay flat, it's a beast. When it arrived I immediately unrolled it (it was also folded SO THERE) and rolled it back the other way, hoping that would help it lay flat. BTW it was very, very difficult to get done, definitely a two person job. We rolled it backwards for 5 days and while the turns aren't terrible anymore it's still not flat and has a lot of waves. I hope it will smooth out over time, but I really don't think so. We have ours in places where furniture secures them, so I think at least it shouldn't be a trip hazard. You also have the smell of new carpet, but it's not very strong and will likely go away over time. Another issue is that the mats are about an inch smaller in each dimension. We got two 5X8 rugs because we needed to cheaply lay out a large area for our older dog. So if we're a bit shy about the sizes advertised, that means we now have bare ground in some areas, making it dangerous for them. We cannot do an exchange or refund as we need them for our dog to walk on and have already thrown away the old mats as they were damaged. It's not a huge difference, but keep that in mind if you want the exact size. The mats themselves are also a bit slippery not only because they slip but also because the surface itself is slippery just because it's a thinner mat and not very plush I think. It's to be expected for the price, but not perfect. B. for cleaning, vacuuming easily without pulling. Liquids will likely pass through them, but that's to be expected, too. In general, these are just regular carpets. If you can get over the fact that rolling them up and back up is a nightmare and you need a cheap big rug, they will work. We'll get them working as needed, but next time I'll choose a different one.
