Requires a standard method of measuring rod length. The suction cups are 4 inches in diameter. I measured my tiles at 4 1/2 inches. But it was difficult to adjust the stick lengthwise so that the suction cup didn't touch the cement mortar. Depending on the brand, the length can be measured inside the suction cups, outside the suction cups. My physical therapist noticed a difference between the ones she had and the ones I ordered. The suction is good and they last.
