We have 5 dachshunds, each about 15-19 pounds. Our newest rescue, Grace, has spent almost 5 years in a cage fathering puppies most of her life so she is not used to long walks. And she has very short legs so she can fall back when walking. I have used other baby carriers, she needs to be carried in the front, she loves to look at me with admiring eyes! I had the sling type but it wasn't the best carrier. This is the best I've had in years! She sits high on me, mid-chest, she fits her long doxy body well and I have my hands free and she doesn't fall out or lean over. And although it's not rated for 30 pounds, her stepsister Audrey is sometimes pretty good at teaching me how to pick her up when she's tired of walking and I can put them both in this stretcher together. Together they weigh over 30 pounds. It's very comfortable, a bit warm for me and for her if it's a long walk and warmer outside temperatures, but it's not overwhelming! I love having my hands free when I need them and side pockets for a water bottle/plate, lunch bags, treats and my phone! good wear and i don't want to look for it in the future when it wears out or should it be damaged by normal wear and tear. With 5 dogs we walk many times a day and that is only to be expected with time. Thank you Alfie Pet for such a great product!
