Review on Aeotec Security Controller Electricity Consumption by Jay Blo

I took the time to read all the negative reviews here but I suspect some of them were caused by user error during installation, although after testing I've bought almost 10 such reviews for my home . At first there was only one, and I can confidently give this 5 stars. I've installed them in a variety of applications ranging from relatively low wattage mini HVAC split units that draw only about 5 or 10 amps to electric vehicle chargers. that draws maybe 15 or 20 amps, to non-tank-less electric water heaters that draw up to the full 40 amps they are rated for. I have not noticed any melting, burning or signs of overheating on any part of these devices or electrical contacts. None of them have physically failed, or stopped responding to Z-Wave commands, or stopped transmitting what I'm sure is a reasonably accurate energy reading. more painful than some other Gen5 Z-Wave devices I can think of, and it's as easy as pressing a button, and it's how it should be every time. I've never had to adjust a custom configuration or device settings to get it working right the first time. As for the smart power switch, I would give it 5 stars across the board. As for heavy duty, I'd give it 5 stars too, I was a little wary of hooking up my thankless 6 AWG wire rated 60 amp electric heaters, but I got the job done and made sure with an infrared thermometer that they do not heat up under load, which is at least 6600 watts. The only thing I could have deducted a star for but didn't is that they are said to be able to be mounted on a wall surface, outside or inside, without being placed inside. box, but I couldn't find an easy way to do this without being exposed to the electricity to the point of making me uncomfortable. I ended up placing them in my switch panels or accessory panels, all of which were metal. This device's antenna was strong enough that the metal wasn't a problem, so I didn't remove the star.
