Thick material to block out the sun
Thick enough to block out the sun and the brim is just wide enough, I think to provide good facial coverage. Not totally "fashion forward," but great for gardening and getting dirty, I think. The brim seems to have wire in it so as to make it stiff enough to put up or down. I haven't tried to wash it yet, but the material seems like it would be a good candidate for the washer.
