The main purpose of these sun visors is to block the sun's rays from entering through the gaps around the rearview mirror, even when both visors are down. I will not use them to try to block the sun from entering a side window as a roll off sunshade can do this much better. It's fairly easy to slide the sun visor on either visor towards the rearview mirror to protect it from the sun and slide it back into the storage position when not in use. Both of my visors have vanity mirrors on the sides of the car. It was easy to position the sun visor's two velcro straps towards the rearview mirror and place them on either side of the clip that holds the sun visor to the roof of the car, avoiding interference when using the vanity mirrors.
