They were vacuum packed. I let them air out for an hour, fluffing them up every 15-20 minutes, then put them in the dryer for 10 minutes after the hour is up. They are fluffy and full, but the pillow is smaller than the standard pillow, it is definitely a hotel pillow. If so, I will update my review. I suffer from headaches and need a very soft extra pillow to suit my needs during these episodes.
