I had a really ugly plastic lantern cover that was about 10 years old (about 8.25" x 8.25" x 5"). It was just a cheap piece with no upgrades that the builder originally installed it. It should have been replaced years ago. Eventually I got fed up with it and started looking. Originally I was just going to replace the plastic shell in the flashlight but I'm very glad that's not an option. You have to buy the whole lamp but really worth it. This light has a plastic frame but contains individual pieces of glass instead of a cheap plastic shell. The light penetrates better and I feel more confident knowing that it shines brighter. It lasts longer too and copes better with the outside elements.I have to buy at least one more because they are worth it.
