This flashlight has additional features - you can use two Sony (or compatible) batteries which have become the de facto standard for complementing camera accessories. Two of these are required to power the light, or you can use the included power adapter. The battery holder can also charge batteries! It adds a ton of weight and makes the device a little heavy on the side, but it's 100% portable on batteries. Then there's the pen. Hold the light up, down, or whatever suits you. It also has a 1/4-20 threaded hole so you can use it with a lot of gear, not just this light. Suitcase? You will actually use it. There is extra space to pack a few small items, batteries, etc. Brightness? It's bright enough and the reflector is awesome. It is blocked at 5600K, which is on the white/slightly blue side of the spectrum - also known as "day white". Special effects are fully programmable - speed and brightness. However, some are limited to one color. For example, a fire/candle effect requires a yellow/orange slot. TV effect really needs multiple colors. But camera lighting and flash are perfect for video effects. Really cute kit!
