Many people recall that this lens originally cost 32–31tr, but after a few years the price dropped significantly to 23tr. This is because these lenses eventually break down and require repairs, which cost 8tr. As a result, Canon decided to sell your lens twice—once in a store and again in a service. (23 + 8 = 31 tr.) My opinion is that I made a mistake by purchasing this lens; it would have been better if I had instead purchased the 28-135 YSM (which is the same as the above but does not have an additional lens on the mount), given 16tr, and perhaps it would have lasted for a longer period of time before breaking. Once this lens broke, I started to be leery of new Canon products because they guarantee accuracy and dependability when you purchase a lens with a red ring, so you won't end up paying money to a service center on a frequent basis.
