Bought out of desperation, I hooked up an old model Toshiba TV to a DVD player. We didn't have a remote control, so we could only play or stop the DVD, not pause, scroll forward, turn on subtitles or whatever. With this remote I can use the DVD function, which is great! The Netflix button didn't work for me, but we have Roku (and maybe there's a way to get that remote to work, I just don't need the feature). Hooray! Definitely worth a try! Update: A month later I try to use it again and it doesn't work. The power and enter buttons work but are not controlled by the DVD. Sigh. Not sure what happened. Maybe because it's a very old DVD, but I don't know why.
